I LOVE YOU. Wish I could have been with Charlotte De Witt and Enrico Sangiulaino at Robot Heart Burning Man 2022's set but it all turned out wonderfully. Thanks for the intro to Dina Summer. Because we all felt, "Careless on Mars" this year at Burning Man. Thank you. "Floating over golden fields. The Perfect Vacation."
Favorite track: Mars.
Dina Summer, the collaborative band project between Kalipo and DJ couple Local Suicide, announces their exciting debut album “Rimini”. The LP is a unique blend of their influences, drawing from 80’s disco, 90’s electro, new wave and downbeat for a fun, nostalgic and dark retro sound.
The Berlin-based project is fronted by Dina P, who lends her vocals and thought-provoking lyricism to the act. The Greek native first started performing as a teenager on local radio stations, where she made waves as one of the first women DJs in Thessaloniki. She later moved to Berlin, meeting her husband and DJ/Producer partner, Brax Moody, to form Local Suicide. The third member of Dina Summer is Bavarian-born Kalipo, who started his music career as the producer and a band member of the German electro-punk band Frittenbude. While the trio initially met at a rave at the Rock am Ring festival in 2013, they only began working on music together in 2019 and have since been refining their combined sound.
Dina Summer’s “Rimini” offers a nostalgic and beautifully crafted journey through retro disco sonics, incorporating synth pop, new wave, and disco elements for funky, upbeat, and versatile tracks that can be enjoyed beachside or on the dance floor.
The LP opens with the groovy ‘Dominator’, which instantly sets the tone of the release with a bouncy synth line and 80’s stabs. Dina’s commanding lead vocals are stacked with heavily distorted vocal layers for a rough, edgy and oppressive tone to emphasise the track’s theme.
The release follows with “Mars”, a laid back, summery track with mellow synth pads and soft leads that create a weightless and carefree atmosphere and embodies the lead vocal line, ‘careless on Mars’.
The pumping “Uranos” builds the energy of the release, with a groovy drum break and driving plucked bass. While minimal, the track’s strong rhythm gives a gritty attitude that makes you want to move and dance.
“Revenge” perfectly showcases the group’s retro disco influences and feels like a journey back through time. It is a fun, groovy and melodic track with washed out synth chords, bouncy bass lines, and staccato stabs that is perfect for any listening experience.
The fifth track, “Zig Zag”, opens with an arpeggiated synth modulated with a phaser for a trippy and warped sound that dances around from side to side as you listen.
The groovy “Mirage” follows with an oriental sounding lead, percussive triplet fills and a funky, bouncing bass line.
“Wunderbar” is a groovy and glamorous track that explores the idea of being the centre of attention. ‘Lights are on me; I love it. Superior, first class.’
The eighth track, “Amore”, is an energetic and exciting sound, with a catchy lead synth that punctuates smooth vocals and a bubbly plucked bass.
“Crocodile” is the ninth track from the release with a gritty and aggressive sonic image. Spacey plucks bounce around the harsh, driving bass for a razor-like pumping sound.
The final and title track, “Rimini”, returns to a laid back, retro wave theme to close out the release. It features nostalgic synth chords, soothing ambient vocals and a soft, airy lead that leaves you wanting more!
Releasing via Audiolith on the 15th of July, 2022, “Rimini” is the perfect soundtrack for Summer that should not be missed!

I've always enjoyed Boy Harsher but I don't think they ever really clicked in my brain until I watched The Runner. Now I can't get enough. Gordon Skramzy (Nathan)
